This article describes the Extension Manager layout and functionalities. The Extension Manager is a part of the Ruleset Manager, and it's used for creating and maintaining the resources of Solibri. With the Extension Manager, you can create a Company Extension.

As you become more familiar with the Ruleset Manager and running checks in Solibri Office, you’ll create your own specific rulesets based on a role or use case, such as accessibility checking or coordination. If your company has multiple users of Solibri Office, you'll want to share these roles, rules, and classifications with them while ensuring these resources are kept up-to-date on their machines whenever changes are made.
With the Extension Manager, you can package and store your own extensions in the Solibri Solution Center (SSC). From there, they're available for users to install on their own machines as a Company Extension. The extension can include roles, rulesets, classifications, ITO definitions, ITO templates, result summary report templates and coordination report templates.
The Company Extension is exported from Solibri Office as a .jar file. This file is then uploaded to a an SSC web page and converted into an SSC extension which can be distributed to the users.
Company extensions are only for the company’s internal use and cannot be seen by other users.
The Extension Manager view shows all the resources that are related to an SRE. There are eight tables and each of them allows you to add and remove distinct resources such as Roles, Rulesets, Classifications, Information Takeoffs, Information Takeoff Templates, Layout Sets, Summary Report Templates and Coordination Report Templates.
-
means that the resource is linked to some other resource
-
means that the link is broken and linked resource is missing (see Broken Links Between Resources)
-
No icon means that the resource is not linked to any other resource
-
A checked checkbox means that the file will be included in the JAR file when the SRE is exported. An unchecked checkbox means the file won't be included in the JAR file.
To add resources, click and select the file(s). To remove resources, select them in the table and click .
To save your changes to the extension, click . To save the extension with a new name, click . The extension is saved as a .sre file. You can open previously saved SRE files by clicking .
The following steps will guide you through creating our own company extension. The example used here is based on the BIM Validation – Architectural role.
-
In Solibri Office, go to File > Roles and open the BIM Validation – Architectural role:
This will allow these resources to be loaded automatically in the Extension Manager view when creating the company extension.
-
Go to File > Ruleset Manager and select the Extension Manager layout:
-
To create a new extension, click in the Account Extensions view toolbar:
-
A dialog opens, asking whether or not you wish to include resources of the currently open role (BIM Validation – Architectural). Click Include:
Note
If no role is selected or you click Discard, no resources from a role are added. Instead, an empty extension is added in the view.
-
The Extension Manager view will now display the Roles, Rulesets, Information Takeoff Definitions, Classifications, and other templates that are part of the BIM Validation – Architectural role:
All the resource items marked with a checkbox are included in the export. If you wish to exclude an item from the export, unmark the checkbox.
-
In the Info view, you can rename the extension and add a description to it. Changing the name of the extension modifies it as a new one, and it must be saved with the given name. Adding or editing the notes modifies the SRE and it needs to be saved.
-
To export the newly created extension as a JAR file, click in the Account Extensions view:
Save the file to your machine. In this example, we saved the file named My Extension.jar to the desktop:
-
This extension can now be uploaded to your company’s SSC account. Please see this article for further instructions.
Links are the connections that one Solibri resource has had with another Solibri resource. This connection is based on the reference of usage:
-
Ruleset(s) can be linked to classification(s) so if a classification is missing from the Classifications table, the ruleset is marked with the broken link icon.
-
ITO definitions can be linked to ITO templates, so if a linked ITO template is missing from the ITO Templates table, the ITO definition is marked with the broken link icon.
-
Layout sets can be linked to a role.
There are icons to the left of listed resources that indicate whether or not those resources link to other files and whether they are working or are broken. If a link to a resource is broken, a "Some Links are broken" message appears in the Extension Manager view and the icons indicate a broken link. If there are only broken links between files, the exporting of the extension as a JAR file is still possible.
To fix this, you need to add the missing resource(s) to which the other resources refer (in this case, the Building Elements - General classification). When the missing resource has been added, the links are no longer broken:
