There is a possibility to search a rule or a ruleset based on some defined parameter(s) that are present in the different views of the Ruleset Manager. The Results of the search appear in the Search Results view.
The search dialog appears from the pop-up menu from the different views of the Ruleset Manager and also by clicking the 'Search' button () on the toolbar. A short-cut key (Ctrl+F) also opens the following 'Search Ruleset Manager' dialog.
The dialog provides a field to enter text such as 'space group' as shown in the snapshot. The given text is searched within the selected parameters given as check boxes and tables in the 'Search In' box, 'Limit Search to Rules Having Selected' box and Location box.
The 'Search In' box allows you to specify that your given search string should be searched within the ruleset's name and description, rule's name, description and support tag and also in the Rule Parameters name and description.
The 'Limit Search to Rules Having Selected' box contains three table Disciplines, Components and Classifications. Upon selecting any of them, the search becomes narrow and more relevant to the requirement. All the available disciplines, components and classifications that are present in the rules in all the three rule and ruleset containing views are populated in the respective disciplines, components and classifications tables.
The Location box allows searching of the given search text in the rules in the Ruleset Folders view, Workspace view and Libraries view.
The 'Search Rules and Rulesets' button starts searching for the given string, for example, 'space group' according to the selected parameters in the search dialog. The results are shown in another view i.e., the 'Search Results' view, as shown below.
The results are categorized in rule and ruleset according to the views which are selected in the 'Location' box such as the Ruleset Folders view, Workspace view and Libraries view. You can drag and drop a rule or a ruleset from the 'Search Results' view to the Workspace view. You can double-click the rule or the ruleset and it will open in its respective view from where it actually exists.
'Search Results' View shows the search results that are searched from the search dialog. The 'Search Results' view is not by default visible. It comes only when some text is searched from the search dialog.
When you provide text to be searched in the search dialog and press 'Search Rules and rulesets' button, 'Search Results' view appears and the searched results are shown in the 'Search Results' view. The results in the view are instantaneously updated, with any change happening to the Ruleset Folders view, Workspace view, and Libraries view.
If you open or close a new ruleset in the Ruleset Folders view, or Workspace view, provided the Ruleset Folders view, Workspace view, check boxes are selected in the 'Location' area of the search dialog, then the results in the view are instantaneously updated,.
'Search Results' view also has the 'Search Rules and ruleset' button to open the search dialog. See image below.
