This article describes how you can create a new ruleset in Ruleset Manager. You can create your own custom ruleset either from scratch or by adding to, removing from, and/or modifying the parameters of an existing ruleset. In this example, we're creating a ruleset from scratch and adding one rule into it. Next, we'll configure the rule parameters. The final step is to test the ruleset in the Checking layout.
Before you start, open a model in Solibri Office, so you'll be able to test your ruleset. In this example, we've used the Solibri Building - Structural IFC model, which is included in the example models delivered with the installer.

Tip
For detailed instructions on how each rule works and how you can configure the rule, see the articles in this section.
First, you need to create a new ruleset in Ruleset Manager:
-
Go to File > Ruleset Manager.
-
In the Ruleset Folders view, select Rulesets Open in Solibri:
-
In the Workspace view, click to create a new ruleset:
-
In the Info view, give the ruleset a name. You can also add a description now or choose to do it later.
-
Now you can add rules into your new ruleset. In the Libraries view, open the Solibri Common Rules folder, and select a rule. Here, we're using the General Intersection Rule:
-
Drag and drop the rule into the ruleset in the Workspace view. Select the rule:
-
In the Info view, give the rule a new name (the current name is just a template name). You can also edit the description now or choose to do it later.
-
You can add multiple rules into the ruleset by repeating steps 5-7.
Next, you need to configure the rule parameters for the rule. It's possible to do this in the Ruleset Manager, but if you do it in the Checking layout, you can use the drag & drop functionality.
-
Go to the Checking layout by clicking File > Checking. You can see that the ruleset you created is open in the Checking view.
-
The rule parameters can be edited in the Parameters view. To add the Parameters view into the layout, click Views > Parameters. Drag and drop the view to the desired location.
Tip
For more information on how to add and move views, see here.
-
In the Checking view, expand the ruleset to see the rules under it. Select the rule you've created.
-
In the Parameters view, configure the parameters for the rules in the ruleset. In this example, we only have one rule. The video below shows an example of how to use drag and drop to define the components to be checked in the Structural Column vs Structural Slab rule we created:
We'll set the horizontal and vertical tolerances to 25 mm:
When you've configured the rule(s), you can test the ruleset by checking the model.
