This article explains how to update models in Solibri. Keeping models up-to-date is crucial for ensuring that all project stakeholders have access to the most current and accurate design information. This practice helps in identifying and resolving issues early, maintaining project coherence, and preventing costly errors and rework.
Please note that after updating models, you must manually re-check the model to refresh the checking results. Issues unaffected by the update will retain their decisions, comments, and snapshots. When an issue is selected, you can view the updated model in 3D. Additionally, you will need to manually update the snapshots and other details in the issue slides..
You can update models using either of the following two options or a combination of both.
1. Model Update Settings
From the Model Tree View right click and select Model Update Settings from the context menu.
The Model Update Settings allow you to choose which models are updated automatically and which require a prompt. If no checkboxes are selected, updates must be checked manually by the user. A multi-select functionality has been added for batch assigning the update strategy and for copying model paths..
Update Options:
-
Auto: Updates are performed automatically in the background when the software starts and during a session if the timestamp changes. Ensure the new version of your file(s) is in the same folder as the original model file and has the same name. The software will then update your model automatically.
-
Prompt: The Model Updates Available prompt appears in the status bar when any models set to prompt are updated. Clicking this prompt opens the Update Models Dialog, where you can select which models to update. Users can deselect any undesired updates to specific files before proceeding with the update.
-
Manual: Choose neither of the above options for any model. Model updates will be controlled manually using the Update Model feature.
2. Update Models:
Models not assigned either the Auto or Prompt options in the Model Update Settings dialogue will require a manual update using the Update Models function.
To update manually, select the model(s) from the Model Tree View, right-click, and choose Update Models from the context menu. Alternatively, you can click File, then Update Model.
The Model Update dialog shows the current version, the latest available version, and clear indications of whether files are up to date. Deselect any models you want to avoid updating, then click Update Models.
Warning indications will be shown in red. These warnings include Not Connected if accessed via a CDE that Solibri is not signed into, or File Not Found if the models have been moved from their original location.
Important
After any update or change to the Model Tree structure (such as adding or removing IFC files), Solibri will notify you of unsynchronised results. You will also notice that:
-
The rulesets are greyed out and reporting is disabled
-
Result Summary view is blank
-
The Results view shows the following message advising to run the check again: "Some models have been modified since the last check is done, please run check to see the results."
To proceed, you must click Check Model/Check Selected to run all the checks again.
