This article describes how you can save models in Solibri. Solibri saves the model as an SMC file. This is the native format of a Solibri project and contains the following:
-
Building Geometry (from one or more imported sources)
-
All components and their relationships
-
Rulesets used for checking
-
Checking results and decisions made by the user
-
User-defined information (such as compartments used in some rules)

Save your model
You need to save the model at least once for a backup file of the model to be created.
Note
Note that in Solibri Anywhere, you can save the model but no changes, apart from commenting and editing issues, and connecting to BCF live, can be made to the model.
To save a model in Solibri:
-
Click File, then select Save Model (if you're updating an existing model) or Save Model as (if you're saving a new file).
-
In the save dialog box, navigate to the folder where you want to save your model. Ensure this location is accessible to all relevant team members and backed up regularly. You can save the file locally or save to a shared location using an integration.
For a full list of integrations available for model management, see here.
-
Click OK.
Here are some tips for effective model saving:
-
Regular Saving: Save your work regularly to prevent data loss.
-
Version Control: Maintain a version control system to track changes and updates. This can be done by saving multiple versions of the model with incremental version numbers.
-
Backup: Always back up your models in a secure location, preferably in a cloud storage solution or a version control system. You can define the number backups created in General Settings.
-
Collaboration: When working in a team, ensure all team members follow the same naming conventions and save locations to avoid confusion and ensure seamless collaboration.
