This rule checks that exterior walls, doors, or windows are connected to one and interior components to two spaces. This rule results depend on the imported data. It can create issues even though a door seems to be between two spaces. In such case, the originating CAD system wasn't able to create a space boundary between the door and space. This rule is mostly useful to run before the model is imported to software, such as energy analysis, that rely on space boundaries.
The rule parameters are:
Check Doors:
If checked, connections of doors and spaces are checked.
Check Windows:
If checked, connections of windows and spaces are checked.
Check Openings:
If checked, connections of empty openings and spaces are checked.
Analysing the results:
The rule creates an issue for each wall, door, or window, which doesn't have enough connections to spaces. If there are spaces near the component, but there are no connections between them and the component, those spaces are attached to the issue.
