This article describes how you can use the drag and drop feature in Solibri to open files or create new filters, ITO definitions or classifications. You can also create new property columns in ITO and Classification tables by dragging items from the Info view.

Dragging and dropping files works with Solibri 9.13.5 and newer. It's possible to drag and drop multiple files at once, and you can also select folders. Filters are an exception to this. The following files can be dragged and dropped:

Models: you can open IFC and SMC files by dragging and dropping them into the Model Tree view.

Rulesets: you can open .cset files by dragging and dropping them into the Checking view. You can also drag and drop rulesets into the Rulesets section in the Roles panel.

Classifications: you can open .classification files by dragging and dropping them into the Classification view. You can also drag and drop classifications into the Classifications section in the Roles panel.

Information takeoff definitions: You can open .ito files by dragging and dropping them into the Information Takeoff view. You can also drag and drop ITO definitions into the Information Takeoff Definitions section in the Roles panel.
Note
To add Rulesets, Classifications and Information takeoff definition files to a role, they need to be located in the Resource toot path for the current role.

Filters: you can open .filter files by dragging and dropping them into the Filtering view. You can't drag and drop a folder or multiple filter files at the same time, since you can only have one filter open at a time.

BCF files: You can open .bcf files by dragging and dropping them into the Presentation view.

Custom hierarchies: You can open .hierarchy files by dragging and dropping them into the Results view.
Below is an example of opening model files by dragging and dropping them into the Model Tree view:
You can easily create new filters, ITO columns and classification rules by dragging component information from the Info view and dropping it into other views. This functionality is available in Solibri 9.13.6 and newer.
Draggable items have a grab handle. When you drag and drop the property, the filter with the corresponding component, property set, property name, and value are populated automatically.
Tip
To cancel the drag and drop action, press ESC or release the item into any non-droppable area.
Note
Currently, you can't drag and drop Material or Profile properties. Also, note that Relations can't be used in classifications.
Tip
You can add multiple properties to a Filter, Classification columns or Information Takeoff columns by selecting the fields from the relevant Info tab, then right clicking and dragging.
You can drag component and container properties from the Info view into any filtering table to create filter rows: the Filtering view, the Classification Rules filter, and filters in rule parameters. The view will be highlighted, and a blue horizontal line will appear indicating the exact drop location:
Below, you can see an example of dragging the Architectural discipline to the filter. The separator line indicates where the new row will be positioned:

You can drag component and container properties from the Info view into the Information Takeoff view to create a new property column in an ITO definition you have open. The new column is based on the property you've dragged. When you drag the item into the droppable area, the table will be highlighted and a blue line will appear, indicating the exact dropping location.
In the example below, you can see a single Property (Height) being dragged from the Info View and dropped into the ITO at the position shown:
It's possible to add multiple properties to an ITO definition simultaneously. To do this, select the Properties from the same property set, right click and drag them to the Information Takeoff Definition:
In the example below, you can see a multiple Properties (various Space Boundary Areas) being dragged with a right click from the Info View and dropped into the ITO at the position shown:
You can drag component and container properties from the Info view into the empty Information Takeoff view to create a new ITO definition. The following information will be dragged:

Component's Entity
-
Property you've grabbed (adds a new column)
-
Count (adds a new column)
The data in the ITO table will be automatically populated based on the component data.
Below is an example of creating a new ITO definition by dragging the Type property of a Column into the Information Takeoff view:

You can drag component and container properties from the Info view into the Classification Settings dialog (Classification Rules tab) to create a new property column. The new column is based on the property you've dragged. When you drag the item into the droppable area, the table will be highlighted and a blue line will appear, indicating the exact dropping location.
In the example below, you can see a new column (Layer) being added to the existing Classification Rules:
Tip
If you need to drag multiple properties from the same tab then select these using either a continuous / discontinuous range and then right click drag.
You can drag and drop component and container properties from the Info view into the Classification view to create a new classification. The classification colours are automatically added based on the component color.
In the example show below, the Length property of a Column is used to create a new classification which classifies all columns based on their length value:
