This rule checks the space count on each building floor. The user defines a target count for each space type on each building floor. The rule reports the space count on each building floor.
Important
Running this rule with the default values does not give useful results; this rule has to be configured before use.
The rule parameters are:
Space or Space Group Check:
-
The selected option in this parameter is responsible for how space groups are taken into account.
-
You can select if space groups are taken into account or not. Or you can check only space groups. The possibilities are:
-
Ignore Space Groups - only spaces, which aren't space groups, are checked
-
Check Spaces and Space Groups - spaces, which aren't space groups, AND space groups of selected types are checked
-
Check only Space Groups - only space groups of selected types are checked
Space Classification:
Classification used for classifying spaces. Classification names are set in the Classification Name column of the Required Space Count table.
Required Space Count Table:
This table lists the count requirements for specific spaces in each building floor. The first four columns identified a space, you can use one or more columns in identification. The table has the following columns:
-
Building Floor: Name of the building floor. When you have a model opened, you can select a building floor name from a separate dialog opened from the right side of the table cell.
-
Space Usage Type Classification: The space usage type classification. Classification can be edited in the Classification View. You can select a classification from a separate dialog opened from the right side of the table cell.
-
Space Type: The space type. Depending on the source, this is not always available. You can use Space Name instead. An empty value matches any space. When you have a model opened, you can select a type from a separate dialog opened from the right side of the table cell.
-
Space Name: The space name can either be unique or more generic, like Office. Again, depending on the source, this value may or may not be present in the model. An empty value matches any space. When you have a model opened, you can select a name from a separate dialog opened from the right side of the table cell.
-
Space Number: A value that defines one space uniquely. An empty value matches any space. When you have a model opened, you can select a number from a separate dialog opened from the right side of the table cell.
-
Required Count: How many spaces matching the Space Classification, Type, Name and Number, the model should contain.
You can also read values to this table from Excel.
Analysing the results:
Every building floor, which doesn't have enough, or has too many spaces of specified type, has its own category. Every required space type with too many or not enough spaces has an own issue. If there are extra spaces in the model, which aren't required at all, issues are created also.
Rule report:
The rule has a report about number of spaces ordered by types in each building floor.

The rule does not have any tools.
