This rule checks that components in Architectural model are filled with components in Structural model. It can be used in spatial coordination to ensure that architectural and structural components are placed so that all load bearing components in Architectural model have corresponding elements in Structural model. The rule doesn’t require 100% filling of the volume, since, for example, the structural engineer typically designs only the load bearing part of the wall. For walls, the rule checks that the Architects wall lateral/side projection is filled with Structural components. Similarly, Architect’s slabs are often thicker than those of Structural Engineer. For slabs, the horizontal projection must match.
The rule has parameters by which you can configure what kind of components in the Architectural and Structural models are considered. This rule needs to be carefully parameterized to avoid false alarms. Special care must be taken that only load bearing Architectural components are the ones that are checked. Otherwise, the rule creates a lot of false alarms.
This rule is often used together with the Structural Components Fit in Architectural Ones rule.
Rule parameters are:
Architectural Model Visualization Color:
The color and transparency used for visualizing Architectural model components.
Structural Model Visualization Color:
The color and transparency used for visualizing Structural model components.
Architectural Components:
The previous components such as Disciplines, Classifications for Architectural Models, Compared Components in Architectural Model have been replaced with a Filter Parameter table.
Structural Components:
The previous components such as Disciplines, Classifications for Structural Models, Compared Components in Structural Model have been replaced with a Filter Parameter table.
These filter parameters provide more options of selection of components, for example, only load bearing walls should be considered or columns located only on the second floor. These filter parameters also provide optimized and comprehensive results due to checking of specified components. Previous rulesets have been converted so that the components defined in the previous parameter "Compared Components" table, are added to the respective filter parameter tables (Architectural and Structural Components Filter Parameter table) according to their disciplines, as shown in the above screenshot.
Tolerance:
The tolerance that is allowed around the Structural components.
Analysing the results:
Issues are generated for those Structural components that extend outside of the boundaries of the corresponding architectural components. The components are visualized with discipline.
