This article explains how the Markup tool works. With the Markup too, you can add for example arrows, texts, shapes, as well as component and coordinate stamps, to your components or model to communicate your thoughts with your project team. Markups are saved in issue snapshots and can be seen in communication.

To add a markup, select the Markup tool from the main toolbar:
The Markup toolbar opens, and you can choose from the following options:
Once you have drawn a graphical markup, you can move it by dragging and dropping it. You can resize it by grabbing on the green frame with grips and stretching. Note that you can't edit text boxes, stamps and pictures.
Note
Markups and dimensions are only saved in the issue snapshots, not in the model. They are always set along on the surface of a component. They can be resized or moved after you have drawn them, but they maintain the same direction if you move them. You can change the colour and line thickness of markups and dimension markings.
Tip
To remove markups, select from the following options:

Click .

Right-click and select Remove Markups from the context menu.

Use the Hide tool and click on the markups you want to remove (except stamps).

Use Undo.
Tip
To quickly access Markup Settings, click in the Markup toolbar.
You can draw free lines, as well as add text and shapes. You can also define the color and line thickness of the markups.

Pen: You can draw free lines and shapes.

Text: Click the spot where you want to add a single line of text. A dialog box opens. Write your text (max. 40 characters) and click OK. Note that the text cannot be edited afterwards.

Arrow: Click a spot and draw the arrow towards the spot you want to point.

Line: Click a spot and draw a line.

Ellipse: Click a spot and draw an ellipse.

Cloud: Click a spot and draw a cloud.

Markup color: Define the color of the markup.

Markup line thickness: Define line thickness for the markup.
Component stamp: The component information is imported from the IFC file and stamped on the component. The insertion point is the centre of the image. To add a component stamp, click on a component. Stamps cannot be moved or resized. Content of the subsequent stamp can be edited in Markup Settings.
Coordinate stamp: The coordinates are imported from the location data of the component and stamped on the component. To add a coordinate stamp, click on a spot. Stamps cannot be moved.
Image: You can add an image on the model, for example on a wall. Supported image formats are GIF, JPG, JPEG, PDF and PNG. Click the spot where you want to add the image. A dialog box opens. Select the image and click OK.
Notice
Using images, especially ones with large file size, increases the file size of the model.
