If you try to open a file and get a build number error stating that the version with which you're trying to open the model is not compatible with which the model was created, it's possibly caused by a corrupt file. Alternatively, the Solibri version you're using is not compatible with the version with which the file was saved.
There are two options for how the file became corrupted:
-
The file wasn't properly saved and got corrupted in the process. Look for a backup file (.bak) in the same folder you were using for saving. Rename the file and delete the .bak part of the name. Save the file as a .smc file and open it in Solibri.
-
The file got corrupted when it was uploaded to/downloaded from a shared platform. Download the file again and see if this resolves the issue. If the issue persists, the file needs to be re-uploaded to the platform.
Important
Note that if you have a corrupted file and you need to go back to a backup file, the latest changes made to the file will unfortunately be lost. We recommend saving your work often to minimalize the loss of work if an error occurs.
If the file is not corrupted, please check that you’re using the same version that was used for creating the file. Newer versions have features that older versions don’t, which can cause a compatibility issue when opening a file in a different version of Solibri.
