This article describes the IFC model requirements for Information Takeoff in Solibri. The level of information in an IFC model depends on the project phase and intended use, but some basic requirements should ideally be met to extract relevant and reliable information from the model. Note that the requirements for architectural, structural and building services engineering model are different.
Before you can extract information or quantities from the model, you should ensure that the IFC model meets the following requirements:
Requirements for an architectural IFC model:
-
The structure of the model is according to the IFC standard, as in the example below:
-
The model includes spaces and zones.
-
The model includes the basic building elements (windows, doors, stairs, elevators, slabs, columns, walls and roof).
-
To distinguish different types of building elements from similar component classes, name, type and dimension data is required.
Requirements for a structural IFC model:
-
The model includes foundations, columns, slabs, beams, structural stairs and load-bearing structures.
-
To distinguish different types of building elements from similar component classes, name, type and dimension data is required.
Requirements for a building services engineering IFC model:
-
The model includes main routing for switchgear, pipes, ducts, cable trays and their dimensioning.
