This article describes how to use the Once Click LCA Extension. This sustainability extension is available for free for Solibri Office users in Solibri Solution Center. To use the extension in Solibri, you'll need Solibri Office v24.5.0 or later.
Important
To use the One Click LCA extension, you need to have a One Click LCA account and license with Business features to be able to import data.
The article covers the following topics:
The One Click LCA extension for Solibri is available in Solibri Solution Center. With the extension, you can easily transfer model data, which has been quanitfied and mapped to the relavent databes, from Solibri to One Click LCA for life cycle assessment, and examine environmental impacts for all building materials directly in Solibri.
One Click LCA and Solibri are jointly offering tools for Digital Construction to solve Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) automation. This Extension lets customers use models in Solibri, validate the data and easily automate LCA using One Click LCA.
This solution can be used by contractors, engineers and designers globally to automate LCA calculations using one of the 60 different databases provided.
The overall workflow for the extension is:
-
Install the extension.
-
Select the OneClickLCA_Extension role.
-
Open a model.
-
Inspect the model using the classifications provided with the extension.
-
Check the model.
-
Assign the environmental profiles (material mapping)
-
Export the data to One Click LCA platform.
The extension includes the following resources:
-
Roles:
-
OneClickLCA_Extension.xml
-
-
Rulesets:
-
OneClickLCA_PreliminaryAudit.cset, which checks the following
-
Duplicates - Components that duplicate themselves
-
Clashes - Components that intersect/clash
-
Inside - Components that are encapsulated by other components
-
Material - Components that do not contain material
-
Existence of the model discipline
-
-
-
Classifications:
-
OneClickLCA_Extension_Disciplines.classification
-
OneClickLCA_Extension_Material.classification
-
The extension also has its own layout, which includes the 3D, Info and One Click LCA views:
For more information on how to install and use an extension in Solibri, see Installing and Using an Extension in Solibri Office. For individual subscription customers, the extension is available on the Extensions page under the File menu.
To install and set up the extension:
-
Open Solibri Office and login.
-
Go to File > Solution Center (or, if you're an individual subscription user, to File > Extensions) and install the extension.
-
To have the One Click LCA layout pre-loaded when you start the software, you may need to restart Solibri after installing the extension.
-
Click File > Roles and open the One Click LCA.xml role file.
-
When you’ve selected a role, all the necessary resources of the One Click LCA Extension are automatically pre-loaded:
-
The default layout is the One Click LCA layout and it's automatically selected.
-
Open a model.
With the classifications attached to the role, you can have an overview of the existing materials in your model.
The One Click LCA extension includes only one ruleset, OneClickLCA_PreliminaryAudit. The ruleset is used for detecting duplicate components, intersections, and overlapping and inner components, which should help you prevent calculating unnecessary emissions. Moreover, the ruleset identifies components which lack material information, since the existence of material information is a prerequisite for doing the material mapping. The ruleset also includes a rule which checks that a discipline has been defined for all models.
Run the ruleset in the Checking layout. For more information on Checking, see here.
When you've completed the checking and removed the duplicates and intersections, you can move on to assigning the environmental classes.
In this step, you assign environmental profiles (material names) from the Once Click LCA database to each component or group. The assignment will be used for LCA calculations on the One Click LCA online platform. If needed, you can continue the procedure on the platform after exporting the list of materials.
To assign the environmental profiles:
-
For each row, click in the Mapping column to open the resource library.
-
The Resource Library opens. It has different filters which can be used to filter out data from the database to display only the materials that meet the set filter criteria: Materials, Countries, EPD Programs, Data type, and Units:
To search the entire database using free text, use the search bar. To reset the filters, click Reset filters.
To apply the selected material to the selected component(s), click Apply selected. If you need to cancel the already applied material mapping for selected component(s), right-click and select Remove.
-
When you've completed the profile assignment, you can proceed to exporting the data.
To export the data to the One Click LCA platform:
-
In the One Click LCA view toolbar, click :
-
Login to your One Click LCA account:
-
The One Click LCA platform opens and the standard import process starts. For more instructions, please see this article on the One Click LCA help centre.
You can save the current configuration, including the environmental profile assignment, as a template which can then be reused later in other projects. You can also use it to save your current work in progress, so you can continue working on it later. The configuration is saved as a .json file.
To save the configuration, click in the One Click LCA view toolbar. Select the destination folder, name the file and click Save As.
To open a previously saved configuration, click in the One Click LCA view toolbar. Navigate to the correct file and click Open.
