Notice
Please note that these points (other than above) refer to the directions of a model which is orientated with a 0 degrees rotation value around the Z axis.
Align to Surface automatically orients the camera perpendicular to a selected surface or edge. This gives you a straight-on view of any component face or area — useful for inspection, documentation, and precise viewpoint setup.
Notice
Note: Align to Surface is available from Solibri 26.4.
How to align the camera to a surface
-
Right-click a surface or edge in the 3D view.
-
Open the Set Viewpoint submenu.
-
Select Align to Surface.
-
The camera rotates to face the selected surface perpendicularly.
-
The selected point stays centered in your view.
The camera transition is animated. You can undo the alignment if needed.
When to use Align to Surface
-
Inspect a wall, slab, or component face from a direct, perpendicular angle.
-
Set up a fixed viewpoint before taking a snapshot or exporting vector graphics.
-
Quickly orient the view to a specific area without manually adjusting the camera.
Tip
Tips for best results
-
Click directly on the surface you want to face. The tool uses the surface normal to calculate the camera direction.
-
You can also align to an edge when a perpendicular edge view is more useful than a face-on view.
-
Combine with fixed viewpoints to save aligned views for reuse in presentations or issue reporting.
